Rapido Rider Harassment Case in Noida

A Rapido rider in Noida sent personal messages to a woman after she booked a parcel delivery through the platform. He first asked, “Hello, how are you?” and soon followed it with, “I love you.”

The woman warned him that she would approach the police if he called or messaged her again. The rider responded, “Yes, go ahead. You can complain to Rapido as well.”

The woman, Geetika Srivastava, shared screenshots of the conversation on LinkedIn and tagged Rapido co-founder Aravind Sanka, seeking action against the rider. Following her post, the company apologised to her.

Geetika, a digital communication expert based in Noida and a former business journalist, had booked a parcel delivery through Rapido three days ago, on Sunday. She said the rider subsequently sent her personal messages.

Expressing her frustration on LinkedIn, Geetika wrote, “Being a woman in this country is already difficult. But now, even booking a simple parcel delivery through Rapido is becoming a cause for trouble.”

Questioning the rider’s behaviour, she asked why he remained so indifferent even after she warned him that she would file a complaint, and why he felt comfortable sending personal and inappropriate messages to a customer.

Geetika asked – Will any action be taken against the rider?

Geetika expressed surprise that the rider remained fearless despite being warned about complaining to the police or the company. He even told her to go ahead and file a complaint. She questioned whether any action would be taken against the rider for such behavior.

She also questioned Rapido’s recruitment and monitoring process for delivery partners. She asked: What kind of people is the company hiring as riders?

Rapido company apologized by commenting on the post

After the matter came to light on social media, Rapido responded to Geetika’s post. Rapido apologized. The company stated that it understands the girl’s concern regarding the delivery executive’s behavior. Such matters are taken seriously.

In its response, Rapido said that the safety, respect, and dignity of customers are its top priorities.

Users said – Rapido’s attitude is very poor

  • The matter did not calm down even after the company’s apology. In 3 days, 44 users commented on LinkedIn. Questions were also raised about Rapido’s response. They asked if just apologizing is enough, or if concrete action should also be taken against the rider for such behavior.
  • User Vimal wrote: Strict action should be taken against both the company and its employee. Legal action should be taken against the employee. A heavy fine should be imposed on the company because it failed to ensure the privacy of its customers.
  • Vinay Yadav wrote – Rapido’s attitude regarding women’s safety and complaints is extremely poor. The company does not take these concerns seriously. It seems that the company does not have any effective system to deal with complaints and safety issues. Everything is left to fate.
  • Some of my female friends have also faced even more serious problems with Rapido riders. However, Rapido support did not take any effective steps to resolve their complaints.
