A video showing a BJP leader allegedly handing cash to a female singer during a musical programme at a party event in Serampore has gone viral, leaving the district BJP leadership embarrassed.

The incident took place at the inauguration of a BJP party office in Ward 19 of Serampore. Serampore organisational district president Suman Ghosh inaugurated the office in the presence of local BJP leaders and workers.
Musical programme follows office inauguration ceremony
Following the inauguration, a musical programme was organised at the venue. BJP leaders and workers were seen dancing during the performance, while a female singer was performing on stage.

During the programme, Rohit Halder, general secretary of the Serampore Mandal 3 unit of the BJP, was allegedly seen placing cash in the singer’s hand. The video of the incident subsequently surfaced on social media and went viral.
The video has triggered embarrassment within the district BJP leadership, with the party distancing itself from the incident.

Serampore organisational district president Suman Ghosh said the BJP does not encourage such incidents.
The party does not encourage this kind of incident. The people of West Bengal have brought the BJP to power to fight against the Trinamool Congress and work for the development of the state. We are moving forward with the goal of overall development,

BJP leader says action will follow
He added that if there had been any deviation from the party’s principles, the organisation would look into it and take appropriate action.
The Bharatiya Janata Party does not have this kind of culture. If such an unpleasant incident has taken place, the party will examine it and take action,
Ghosh said.
Meanwhile, a photograph purportedly showing another BJP leader holding a liquor bottle has also gone viral on social media. However, the authenticity of the photograph could not be independently verified.
