Trehan has organised several unusual langars before
Rakesh Trehan has previously organised various types of langars in Chandigarh. Recently, he held a cash-and-food langar outside the Sanatan Dharm Temple, also known as Shiv Temple, in Sector 8.
People attending the event were given ₹500 cash along with McDonald’s burgers and cold drinks. A large crowd gathered to collect the money and food, prompting the organisers to deploy bouncers for crowd management.
A coupon system was also introduced to prevent people from repeatedly joining the queue. Several videos from the event later went viral on social media. Trehan claims he has been organising such langars since 2019.
He said, “I have distributed gold coins and cash ranging from ₹500 to ₹1,500 at various religious places and events. He has also claimed to have hosted meals for needy and poor people at five-star hotels around 25 times.”
