Father and son attacked near railway crossing

The incident took place near the Bethuadahari railway crossing in Nakashipara at around 9:30 pm. According to the allegations, the assailants intercepted Anisur and Sufian’s car, fired several rounds at them, forced them out of the vehicle and attacked them with sharp weapons. Both reportedly died at the spot due to excessive blood loss.

Jailed TMC leader accused of orchestrating killings

Police have alleged that Fatema’s husband, influential TMC leader Jubbar Sheikh, may have played a role in the killings. Jubbar is currently in jail, and the family has alleged that he orchestrated the attack from behind bars.

The three arrested accused were produced before a court after undergoing medical examinations. Police have sought their custody.

Family blames Jubbar Sheikh for double murder

Anisur’s family has alleged that the killings were carried out at Jubbar’s direction. They claim tensions had been growing between the two groups following the Assembly elections, with Anisur’s influence allegedly increasing in the area.

Congress calls statewide Black Day

The Congress has called for a statewide “Black Day” over the killings. West Bengal Congress president Shubhankar Sarkar condemned the incident, alleging that attempts were being made to silence minorities and opposition voices in the state. Former Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also condemned the killings and said the incident once again raised questions over the law-and-order situation in West Bengal.
