The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has alleged that its 25-year-old volunteer, Shaik Abdul Hafeez, and his family were violently assaulted at their home in Karisunda village, Bankura district, West Bengal, following his participation in a school inspection campaign.
According to CJP, Hafeez visited a local government school on 13 August as part of its nationwide “School Thik Karo” campaign to assess the condition of school infrastructure.
The party alleges that armed individuals identified as local BJP workers later entered his home.
CJP said the attackers allegedly demanded that Hafeez record a video apologising for raising concerns about the school and claiming he had acted under external influence. When he refused, the alleged attackers assaulted his family.

Father dies from head injuries
Hafeez reportedly suffered a serious neck injury during the assault, while his father, Janab Mafik, sustained severe head injuries. He later died from those injuries on 15 August, according to the party.
Hafeez recorded a video from the hospital describing the alleged attack and subsequently travelled to Kolkata, citing concerns for his safety. He is currently at the hospital for the postmortem of his father’s remains.
CJP founder and National Convener Abhijeet Dipke condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible. He said the party would send a team to West Bengal to support Hafeez and his family.
CJP demands FIR and impartial probe
CJP also alleged that no Medico-Legal Case (MLC) was initiated and no First Information Report (FIR) was registered following the initial assault.
The party has called for an impartial investigation into the alleged attack, Mafik’s death and the circumstances surrounding the alleged failure to initiate legal proceedings.
A CJP National Working Committee delegation led by Co-Convener Ashutosh Ranka is expected to visit West Bengal.
The party has urged Indas Police Station to take immediate action against those accused and ensure protection for Hafeez and his family.
