An FIR has been registered in Raipur against Congress national spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and social media influencer Neha Singh Rathore over social media posts linked to an alleged national flag controversy in Dhamtari district.
Neha Rathore shared video on social media
According to the complaint, Neha Singh Rathore shared a video claiming that BJP leaders had hoisted a BJP flag instead of the national flag in Dhamtari.
The complainant, however, has alleged that the video is old and was recorded during a party-related event, rather than being a recent incident involving the national flag.
Supriya Shrinate also shared the post
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate subsequently shared the post on social media, referring to it as an insult to the Tricolour.
Congress leader Dr Ragini Nayak also allegedly described the incident as “anti-national” in a post linked to the video.
BJP spokesperson lodged complaint
Chhattisgarh BJP state spokesperson Ujjwal Deepak approached the Civil Lines police station in Raipur and lodged a complaint against the social media posts.
Following the complaint, police registered an FIR against Supriya Shrinate and Neha Singh Rathore. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the video and the social media posts.

The complainant has submitted a screenshot of this post to the police.

BJP leaders lodged a complaint at the police station against the post.
Know what is the entire matter?
According to police, BJP state spokesperson and Labhandhi resident Ujjwal Deepak lodged a written complaint at the Cyber Crime and Civil Lines police stations on August 17.
In his complaint, Deepak alleged that a video and photographs were circulated on social media on August 15, claiming that BJP leaders in Kurud, Dhamtari district, had hoisted the party flag instead of the national flag on Independence Day.
The complainant, however, alleged that the footage was not from August 15. He claimed that the video and photographs were actually from the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Training Maha Abhiyan held on March 22, 2026.
Deepak further alleged that the old footage was deliberately presented as a recent incident to create a misleading impression and damage the image of the BJP and its public representatives.

Police examining social media posts and digital evidence
BJP leader Ujjwal Deepak has urged police to preserve the posts, videos, photographs, comments and other digital evidence linked to the case.
He has also sought a technical examination of the posts, including tracing their original source and obtaining metadata from the concerned social media platforms.

Police are currently investigating the matter, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the probe.
The complaint further alleges that circulating misleading content on an occasion such as Independence Day could heighten social and political tensions.
It also raises concerns over the spread of misinformation among the public and its possible impact on law and order.
