India successfully test-fired the medium-range Agni-4 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, on Thursday, the Ministry of Defence said.
According to the ministry, the launch successfully validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile. The test was carried out under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command.
The Agni-4 test follows the recent successful trials of the Agni-Prime and Agni-3 ballistic missiles.
Strike range of up to 4,000km
Agni-4 is a two-stage, surface-to-surface ballistic missile powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor. It has a strike range of up to 4,000km, enabling it to engage targets at long distances.
