Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday posted a 53-second video on X, raising questions over the E20 fuel policy and alleging corruption in its implementation.
In the video, Rahul is seen opening a car’s fuel tank, lifting the cap and looking inside before saying, “We usually say there’s something fishy, but in this case, the whole system is tainted.”
He went on to claim that the country was witnessing a series of corruption scandals, describing the E20 fuel issue as one of them.
“We will continue to raise this issue,” Rahul said, signalling that the Congress would pursue the matter further.

Centre dismisses controversy over E20, denies reports of US ethanol imports
The Centre on Friday said some people were creating unnecessary controversy over the E20 fuel programme, maintaining that India’s ethanol blending initiative has delivered positive results.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the country’s biofuel blending programme was progressing well and had achieved encouraging outcomes.
“Some people are trying to create unnecessary controversy over E20,” he said while speaking in Delhi.
Separately, the government clarified that the ethanol blended with petrol is sourced entirely from within India. In a press note issued on August 6, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry rejected reports claiming that India was importing large quantities of ethanol from the United States.
The clarification came after recent media reports suggested that India was considering purchasing American ethanol for its fuel blending programme.
