Parliament is likely to take up the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill (FCRA) for discussion today. The Bill was introduced during this year’s Budget Session but could not be debated at the time.
The FCRA law regulates which NGOs, trusts, religious and social organisations in India can receive foreign donations and how those funds can be used. Its objective is to ensure that foreign contributions are not used in ways that threaten national security or public interest.
According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to reply to the debate when the FCRA Amendment Bill, 2026 comes up for discussion. The Opposition has been repeatedly questioning Shah’s absence from the House.
Since the Monsoon Session began on July 20, Question Hour in the Lok Sabha has largely failed to function because of repeated disruptions. Five Bills have already been passed without discussion amid the uproar.
Meanwhile, the Opposition has continued its protests over the NEET paper leak and the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir.
