PDP President Mehbooba Mufti held a protest demonstration in Srinagar on Monday night, a day before the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir. During this, she was seen holding the tricolor upside down.
During the demonstration, she said, “We can never forget this night. Our party will continue to demand the restoration of Article 370.”
Mufti has directed party leaders to hold peaceful protest demonstrations at the district level across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. This decision was taken after a high-level meeting held at the party headquarters in Srinagar on Tuesday. This meeting was attended by all district presidents from across Kashmir as well as leaders of the party’s core, women’s and youth wings.
On August 5, 2019, the Centre revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Seven years of removal of 370 and 35A are being completed
During the demonstration, Mufti said that the events of August 5 are still very significant today and her party will continue to make efforts for the restoration of those constitutional provisions that were abolished on that day.
On August 5, 2026, seven years are being completed since the removal of Article 370 and Article 35A by the Central Government. On August 5, 2019, the Centre reorganized the then state by ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Under this, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were divided into two separate Union Territories.
