
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Drug-Free Youth – Developed India Resolution Campaign) via video conferencing on Sunday, marking the start of a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness about drug abuse among young people.
The 100-week initiative seeks to encourage youth to stay away from drugs while inspiring them to promote awareness and social change within their communities.
Campaign to run every Sunday for 100 weeks
As part of the campaign, awareness programmes will be organised every Sunday across the country. The initiative will focus on educating people about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting the vision of a drug-free India.
Youth from 10,000 locations to participate
The launch event will connect young people from more than 10,000 locations across the country.
Volunteers from MY Bharat, the National Service Scheme (NSS), youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), youth wings of industry bodies and more than 125 spiritual organisations will participate virtually.
Government aims to build a mass movement
The Centre aims to transform the campaign into a nationwide movement against drug abuse by bringing together educational institutions, youth organisations, social groups, industry bodies and spiritual organisations.
