The government has taken strict action against social media handles spreading AI-generated images and videos claiming to show flooding at Delhi Airport.

Officials gave this information on Monday, September 7.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) filed an FIR on September 6 against these social media handles for spreading misinformation.

A list of the handles was also submitted to the Delhi Police along with the complaint.

According to officials, after heavy rain in the capital on September 4, some people shared AI-generated videos and old videos from other places on social media.

These videos were falsely claimed to show scenes from Delhi Airport.

Heavy rain on the afternoon of September 4 caused waterlogging on the roads leading to Terminals 2 and 3 at Delhi Airport, as well as in the forecourt. After this, some people shared AI-generated videos and old videos from other places on social media.

Officials said these videos falsely presented a picture of flooding at Delhi Airport. The government has taken strict action against the social media handles involved.

Further legal action will follow

According to officials, further legal action will be taken against anyone who spreads misleading or false information about Delhi Airport on social media.

The rain also affected flight operations. Flights arriving in Delhi from Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Port Blair were delayed. Waterlogging in several parts of the airport caused inconvenience to passengers.
