Fifty-four-year-old Manipuri musician C Vikram Singh was beaten to death in Delhi’s Kilokri village early on Monday morning after he objected to noise and drinking.
Delivery workers and dhaba employees are alleged to have attacked him. Singh later died from his injuries.
Police said they received information about the assault through a PCR call. Singh was from Manipur and had been living in Kilokri village for several years. According to police, he belonged to the Meitei community.
Singh’s son, Yaifaba, took him to Holy Family Hospital, where he died during treatment. Police have started an investigation into the incident.

Accused of attacking six people
According to the initial police investigation, Singh had objected to six youths making noise and drinking alcohol outside his house. The youths then allegedly attacked him with kicks and punches, leaving him seriously injured.
Police have taken some suspects into custody in connection with the case. One of them is a minor.
NESSDU demands an impartial investigation
The North East Students’ Society of Delhi University (NESSDU) has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident. It also called for action against those responsible.
The organisation said, “According to reports, six people were drinking and making noise outside Singh’s house in Kilokri, New Delhi.
Singh came down from his house to ask them to lower the volume. Following this, those individuals attacked Singh. He sustained severe injuries, which later led to his death.”
NESSDU described the incident as “senseless violence”. It also said Singh was a respected musician.
