The video of the incident is going viral on social media.

Police have registered a case against around half a dozen drivers for racing cars at high speeds inside the tunnel on Mumbai’s Coastal Road. The vehicles involved include a black Lamborghini, a yellow BMW M2, a red BMW Z4, and a Volkswagen Virtus.

The video was recorded at around 11:15 p.m. on September 3 on the southbound Coastal Road near Marine Drive. Police took action after the video went viral on social media.

A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for negligent driving and endangering someone’s life or personal safety. No arrests have been made so far.

An FIR was registered based on a complaint by Police Head Constable Satish Nivrutti Sangle. According to the complaint, six to seven cars were seen speeding inside the tunnel.

Police have identified these vehicles. However, the names of the drivers and details of further action against them have not yet been disclosed.

Earlier this year, a case was also registered in Bengaluru against a green Lamborghini Aventador SVJ for reckless driving. After a video spread on social media, the Bengaluru Traffic Police registered a suo motu case on its own initiative.
