As the grand ceremony of the National Film Awards, regarded as Indian cinema’s most prestigious and highest honour, is being held in Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar (Kevadia) on 22 September, President Droupadi Murmu, Union ministers, leaders including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Bollywood and South Indian celebrities will attend the event.
Presented by the Government of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting since 1954, the awards are being held outside Delhi for the first time in their 72-year history, with Gujarat chosen to host the event this year. Preparations are in full swing at Ekta Nagar.
An air-conditioned German dome has been set up for guests at the Statue of Unity, with seating arrangements for 1,000 people. In addition, guests will be served Gujarati dishes.

More than 500 technicians, craftsmen and labourers from various fields are working round the clock to make the grand ceremony a success and a memorable event.
‘German Aluminium Structural Dome’, Waterproof and centrally air-conditioned A large, high-tech dome with a seating capacity of 1,000 people is being constructed right next to the Statue of Unity. This modern ‘German Aluminium Structural Dome’ will be completely waterproof and centrally air-conditioned.
It is also being fully equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system and modern lighting system for a spectacular experience at the ceremony.
Attractive stage lighting and VIP lounge The structure of the ‘German Dome’ and the interior work inside it are in the final stages. Specialists are continuously monitoring the installation of a hi-tech sound system, attractive stage lighting and a VIP lounge.
Work to equip the entire venue with attractive lighting and theme-based decorations is progressing at full speed ahead of the arrival of the President and the country’s leading film actors.

Main award presentation ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. During the approximately 75-minute main protocol session in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, winners in various categories will be presented with awards and certificates of honour.
The main ceremony will begin between 4 and 5:15 p.m. in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Union ministers and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the national anthem.
Awards will then be presented in various categories, including feature film, non-feature film, and best actor and actress.
Laser and light and sound show at the Statue of Unity Between 5:15 pm and 6 pm, President Droupadi Murmu will address personalities from the film industry. An official group photograph will then be taken with all the award winners.
After the main ceremony concludes, a special cultural programme has been organised for guests on the banks of the Narmada after 6:30 pm. In addition, a special theme-based laser and light and sound show has also been organised at the Statue of Unity.
