A scuffle broke out between a school student and a female non-teaching staff member over the issuance of a transfer certificate (TC) at Jagdala High School in Bamangola, Malda.
Staffer refuses certificate correction request citing records
The non-teaching staff member, who joined the school around one and a half years ago, said a former student had approached her seeking a certificate with a corrected spelling of his name. She refused the request, stating that the certificate could only be issued according to the school’s official records.

Injured staffer files police complaint after assault
She alleged that several students subsequently entered the staffroom and physically assaulted her. The woman further alleged that acting headmaster Amit Halder and another assistant teacher had instigated the attack.
Following the incident, the injured staff member was taken to Mudipukur Rural Hospital in Bamangola for treatment. She also lodged a police complaint in connection with the alleged assault.
Two more teachers named in complaints
The situation reportedly escalated further at the hospital when supporters of the non-teaching staff member allegedly assaulted acting headmaster Amit Halder and another teacher in retaliation.
The injured staff member was later transferred to Malda Medical College and Hospital for further treatment. She subsequently filed additional police complaints against two other teachers, identified as Noni Roy and Bimal Pal.

Staffer alleges financial irregularities in school
The woman also levelled allegations of financial irregularities at the school, claiming that she had detected irregularities in the Mid-Day Meal scheme after joining the institution. She alleged that the Teacher-in-Charge was involved in the irregularities.
Acting headmaster dismisses allegations as baseless
She further alleged that when she raised objections to the alleged financial irregularities, acting TIC Amit Halder sexually harassed her and allegedly made inappropriate proposals. Halder, however, rejected all the allegations, describing them as completely baseless. Police are looking into the complaints and allegations made by the parties involved.
